SKB THROUGH THE YEARS

PORTFOLIO PROJECTS

The Barrage is located about 7 km downstream of the Tarbela Dam on River Indus. It included the construction of 525 ft long head regulators & undersluice with 8 bays each. The standard Barrage is 1331 ft long with 20 bays including guide banks, gates, road bridge, approach roads and other ancillary works. The power channel off-takes from the left side of Barrage near Ghazi with 52 km length. It comprises reinforced concrete lined canal with 34 ft depth and 326 ft breadth. The company involved in the construction of this prestigious project in joint venture with Impregilo (Italy) and Zublin (Germany).

The main scope include improvement of Main Barrage, LBDC & B.S. Link Head Regulators and construction of 8 bay Head Regulator, Gated Flood Spillway on the right bank, roads & bridges, approach channel to Gated Flood Spillway, flood disposal channel downstream of the Gated Flood Spillway, modifications to river training works and Canal Concrete lining. It also include bulk quantum of mechanical works comprising of complete manufacturing, installation and operations of Barrage Structure, lifting system, LBDC upper & lower gates / head regulators, main weir and automatic hoisting system, installation of roller trains, filling of SS Plates and new locker assembly.

SKB achieved credit in 2007 with the completion of 154 km long 6-lane Motorway M-1 in Pakistan. M-1 was executed and completed by PMC JV, a consortium of Pakistani contractors, led and steered by SKB. SKB contributed 111 km in this milestone project. This section of Motorway M-1 also include 33 no’s of Bridges, 17 no’s of Fly-over, 02 no’s of major independent Bridges (North Bound and South Bound) each of 975 meters in length on river Indus, and construction of Burhan Intersection and Balance Works.

SKB developed complete infrastructure works that mainly include network of roads, water supply system, HVAC and cooling distribution line, Power Plant and controlled power distribution system to the allied facilities of the base. Power Plant Works particularly comprised of installation and commissioning of 03 Nos. of Turbines each with installed capacity of 3.75 MW operates from Gas / JP8 Fuel. Whereas HVAC works include supply, installation, commissioning of 02 Nos. of non electric chillers with 1300 ton cooling capacity. MV switch gear room with 3 nos. of outgoing feeders, each feeder delivers 11 KV supply to ring main units by underground cables which further supply to Pad mounted transformers rating from 100 KVA to 2500 KVA. Whole Energy Setup is controlled by DCS system.
